Starting a Blog

Well, here I am, sitting in front of the computer, waiting for the BMW man to pick up my car so that they can take it into the garage and then not find out why the passenger window keeps opening when the car is unattended.  Actually, that's a bit unfair cos' it hasn't happened yet but they are late and thus I do have a bit of a reason to feel pissed off.

Actually, I want to go to the gym but I am putting that off, probably because the weather is so bloody awful.

So what is this blog going to be about.  F*** knows, but it will incorporate music, cars, golf, keeping fit, travel, trains, books and some attempts at humour.  It will also include some tips and experiences as I try to get to grips with retirement and try to work out what the f*** I am going to do with myself for the next 35 years (assuming I live to 90) and beyond - though I guess after that my options will be a bit more limited.

So why have I called this Welcome to Harpenden.  Well after 25 years or so of commuting on the very wonderful First Capital Connect (FCC) and its predecessors, I was definitely impressed to see that rather than spend money on improving service, FCC put up these rather lovely signs (picture to be included when I can be arsed).

I can see why you would put up signs saying Welcome to York or Welcome to Oxford, but Welcome to Harpenden???  Its not as if we get many tourists here anyway, so pretty much anyone who gets off the train is a commuter and so, shouldn't it be Welcome Back to Harpenden - It hasn't changed much since you left this morning!!

So still no sign of the car pickup, I guess I should get on with my life, i.e., do my teeth, go to the loo and then off to the gym.  I do know however, that as soon as I go upstairs, then there will be a knock on the door though.

So anyway, this is a start and lets see where this takes me.

Toodles
